EDUCATION
• Liceo Classico (Literature/Scientific High School), Civitavecchia, Rome.

• Undergraduate degree in Industrial Design (Product and Graphic Design) at La Sapienza University of Rome.

• Graduated March 2010 from IUAV’s graduate degree in Visual and Multimedia Design, specialising in Interaction Design. My thesis project, “FontUp” is an interactive way to learn typography through a videogame on iPhone.

EXPERIENCE
• In autumn 2009 I worked as an interaction design intern at FABRICA, the Benetton’s Communication Research Center. I did interface testing, user interviews, usability testing and workshop upon sustainable design (“Water: The Challenge“).

• In summer 2009 I participate at the Mediamediterranea Festival (Pula, Croatia) with Eureka! an interactive installation based on physical computing, graphics and sounds. I worked in a team project. See the blog of the instalaltionhere.

• Some spreads of my graphic work, submitted as the final output of the Editorial Design studio course at IUAV, were displayed at the “Made in IUAV” exhibition during the Venice Architecture Biennale 2008.

• In Autumn 2006 I undertook a two-month internship at Picchio s.p.a., a factory that produces car prototypes. A year later I returned to do my undergraduate thesis: an interactive advertisement in response to the Chairman’s request for a new advertising strategy.

• My strengths are in problem analysis and ideas generation. I am keen on graphics (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), so experienced in developing the visual part of projects. I am good at Cinema 4D and Flash animations. I also like doing prototypes: I have done some coding in Processing.

• I am interested in the middle field between interaction design and typography.

• I am one of the Random Clapping group, created from students of Interaction Design at IUAV University.

LANGUAGES
Mother tongue: Italian. I studied English at school and in Summer 2008 undertook a one-month intensive course in San Francisco, at Kaplan Aspect School, where my level was considered intermediate.

PORTFOLIO
Here are links to three of my projects:

ring-tin-tin_logo

Ring Tin Tin: a team project to design a mobile phone application that allows two or more mobile phones to act and greet each other as if they were dogs. The core idea is to use the mobile like a dog in order to detect other “mates” and enhance the possibility of meeting new people. The mobile phone’s owners are given the chance to decide whether they want to engage with that particular person or not, and are encouraged to play even if shy.

kalma_logo

Kalma: a team project to realize an installation in Corte Tagiapiera, a little courtyard near San Giacomo dell’Orio in Venice, that establishes a relationship between the place and its visitors. The court is alive and its breath becomes nervous when a visitor intrudes. The breath is visualized through a light projected onto the pavement and its sound is synchronized with the projection. The visitor, intrigued by the place, discovers it slowly and, by moving round the courtyard, illuminates it. The visitor’s mood merges with the mood of the place. The user can calm the place and make contact with it. (more information)

linfabeat3

Linfabeat: a team project to help people who have plants to stay in touch with them when they are apart, listening to their “voices” and knowing when they’re thirsty. A new communication channel links the plants to a device carried on the person. (more information)
