EDUCATION

2013 Master degree at IUAV University in Product Design, specialising in Interaction Design, with full marks.
2010 Undergraduate degree in Industrial Design at Università degli Studi di Palermo.
2006 Science High School, Licata (Agrigento, south Sicily).

PROFILE

Strengths:
My strengths are in concept generation, brainstorming and design developement (shape, materials and scenario definition).
Because of my background in product design I am really strong in prototyping (more in physical prototyping but also good in screen-based programming) and technical problem-solving and project management.
I am passionate about handmade drawings and sketches, useful for the early stages of a project.
I have a strongly interest in working with new technologies and new materials, foreseeing their potential best use in order to reach new achievements. I also try to predict peoples’ possible reactions.
I would like to work on interaction design applied to the healthcare sector, aiming to help users feel good about the objects, the environment and themselves.

Skills:
-  Good in Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere and (as a beginner) After Effect.
-  Good in 3D and 2D CAD software: Rhinoceros (V-Ray render engine), AutoCAD and Cinema 4D.
-  Good in product prototyping and electronics assembling.
-  Proficient in creative code: Processing, Arduino.
-  Proficient in generative 3D modelling: Grasshopper.

EXPERIENCE

2012/2013 (10 months)
Interaction design intern at Frog design, Milan. I designed interactions for websites, apps, and physical devices, and get involved in the user research process.

2009/2010
Teaching assistant in the Laboratory of Industrial Design 1, run by Viviana Trapani, University of Palermo.
2009
Intern in interior design and furniture company ICAR Ltd. My task was to create CAD drawings producing executive furniture.
2004 to 2008
Designer and airbrusher at Decaro bodywork.

A on Mars is a system designed to assist the therapeutic activity of autistic children or with social cognition disorders.

Bocia Pocia is a system of educational and playful installations for children, which can be included in a traditional tourist visit to Venice.

H’BO hard to be hobo (team work) allows people to find experiences in an unusual way, according to their interests and gives the chance to encounter many others along different paths around the city.

Bilione is a device for monitoring your home’s energy consuption. It indicates excesses and educates users in the responsible use of energy, using simple
interactions and summary interfaces.

fLight (team work) is an interactive system that allows people distant from their family to reinforce the feeling of being part of it, knowing that somewhere else somebody is living the same moment.

Save Poul,(team work) a game developed in Processing, uses the microphone input to help Poul, a fish, to reach the sea. Blow up a bubble, speak to avoid a cat and reach the window, and finally scream to burst the bubble and liberate Poul.

Silence Please, (team work) is a green, interactive barrier designed to create privacy and provide the advantages of plants in chaotic environments, both public and private. Made of two elements, one for the base and one for the panel, and all managed by Arduino, Silence Please becomes active when its sound and light sensors detect noise.
